OK, you’ve done it now >>> I very much wish this was my picture! Having the horse’s head so large and forward in the frame really makes the whole thing look quite surreal – I imagine you used a strong wide angle lens here, to keep the horse and the background in focus; the effect is terrific. The square crop also matches the subject exactly, and the stratocumulus clouds provide interesting content for what would otherwise be a very empty sky. FATman

Thanks for the comment! I was using a borrowed Sony A200 with the standard kit lens – an 18-70mm zoom. I see from the exif that I had it at 22mm length. f5.6.

Oh BTW, the A200 has a 1.5 crop-factor, so the 35mm equivalent for this pic is 33mm, not all that strong a wide-angle!
